About the Workshop
Taiko is more than simply playing a drum. It combines rhythm, movement, teamwork, and energy into an experience that is both exciting and rewarding. During this hands-on introductory workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of taiko while playing full-sized Japanese drums under the guidance of experienced Dokon Daiko members.
By the end of the workshop you’ll have learned basic techniques and performed a short piece together as a group.

Workshop Questions
No. This workshop is designed specifically for beginners. No previous musical or drumming experience is required.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and indoor athletic shoes.
Just bring yourself and water. Earplugs are recommended but not required. We provide the taiko drums and bachi (drumsticks).
Participants should be at least 12 years of age.
Taiko involves standing, arm movement, and basic body positioning. Participants are encouraged to work at a comfortable pace. If you have mobility concerns or physical limitations, please contact us before registering so we can discuss whether the workshop is a good fit for you.

Once we receive your payment, we’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know your spot has been reserved.
About one week before the workshop, you’ll receive a final email with arrival information, what to bring, and other workshop details.

Because workshop spaces are limited, registrations are accepted on a first-paid, first-confirmed basis.
